Finally a new Witchhazel Fragments drawing, with Witchhazel/Nitro the main character and her friend/boyfriend Imogen and her cat guide Frankenstein (he's one of my actual cats). This series is going to be very quirky and random, when i write it.
Drawn 11/22/12

Would you like a critique on anatomy and structure, i feel thats the only think i can help you with, sorry if this is the first comment you see you can just erase it if needed and possible, but do tell me if you want the critique
Anatomy has never really been a strong suit for me, everyone tells me what wrong with it, but never how to get better. if you have a method for improving then I'll here it.
Then forget about the critique XD lets focus on the counseling, first Im not a really goood at anatomy either so hope this doesnt hold you back more than its gonna help you.
First you gotta start by knowing your canons, try different learning books about it, human body is difficult as fuck, so try to thinks what parts you like and what you hate, also try to select if you would like to draw males or females, coz that could make easy to improve way more in your draws.
Now onto the stuff, while i'm learning, i draw bodies in the best fitness possible, coz if you can manage that, you can later turn that perfection into imperfections.
Again Know your canons, perfect canons like 8 canons bodies, are good but not a rule, after you dominate them you can alter them at your leisure, these are just pointers, example my legs are 4 heads but thighs are really fat XD
Anyways, while you practice anatomy dont try foreshortening try to learn all anatomy in plain planes. Front, Back and Sides. Try to draw the entire body until you get satisfied.
Dont know what else to tell you, see my sh1t and you'll get convinced that im talking a lot of crap XD, if any questions on something specific, note me, i'm not famous on deviant so i have tons of free time to read notes
we are in the same boat, i've never taken a class of drawing, maybe that's why is normally so hard that people can explain you what is wrong and how to improve your drawing after telling you what is wrong.
I suck at hair, its good that you arent afraid of hands since its the most difficult part of the body, if you like tutorials you could take a pick at [link] she has some really nice tutorials about hair and eyes, what i know i have learned through understanding and reasoning. Thats why most of what i tell you is pointers you can also check this guy anatomy lessons
u'll maybe discover that you know most of what he says, but it may have a bit of info that may help you, sometimes other artist pointers can give you an upper hand on your weaknesses.
Lastly, and my favorite, use human pictures to practice anatomy, extreme pose can be found anywhere now days, and if you are interested advanced drawers like good ol' andrew loomis with his books can set you on the right path. E.g: Fun with a pencil
Dont make the mistake of thinking real anatomy is not important, the nearer you get to draw something as you see it, the nearer you get to draw it as a fantasy e.g: To draw dragons, learn how to draw all types of lizards and reptiles, even chamaleons, dont just try to draw dragons copying from another dragon, that dragon was created studying reptiles first.
